How we helped WOW Digital get 39 meeting-ready leads from Canadian nonprofits in 60 days
Cause-specific, non-salesy outbound for a Toronto nonprofit web agency: 39 meeting-ready leads in 60 days and several $10K projects.

Introduction
WOW Digital is a Toronto web design and digital strategy agency built for nonprofits and associations. Founded by David Pisarek after decades of working with charities, it designs accessible websites, brands and member portals for organisations such as CARE Canada, the David Suzuki Foundation and Baycrest Health Sciences. Its market is well defined and its reputation strong, but nonprofits rarely go looking for a new web partner. WOW asked us to go to them.
The Challenge
Selling websites to organisations that are suspicious of anyone selling anything.
A wary buyer → nonprofit leaders protect every dollar and every minute. A salesy email is deleted on sight.
A crowded category → web development is the most-pitched service in any inbox, nonprofit or not.
Timing → the engagement ran into the summer, when conventional wisdom says outbound should pause.
What We Built
We wrote to each organisation about its cause, not about websites, and we kept sending when competitors stopped.
Cause-specific messaging. Every email named the organisation’s own mission and the specific work it was doing, with AI used to draft that line at scale and a human checking it, so the message read as an introduction from someone who had done the homework.
A non-salesy introduction. The ask was a conversation about the organisation’s goals online, not a redesign quote. The agency’s nonprofit track record did the persuading once the conversation started.
Sending through the summer. We made a conscious decision to keep campaigns running through the holiday period, when inboxes are quieter and fewer agencies are competing for attention.
Non-salesy by design
01
Cause-specific lines
Every email named the organisation's own mission and current work.
02
AI-assisted copy
Personalised lines drafted at scale and checked by a human before sending.
03
A conversation, not a quote
The ask matched how nonprofits buy.
04
Summer sending
Campaigns kept running through the holidays, when fewer agencies were competing.
The Outcome
Two months of outbound gave a referral-based agency a steady run of nonprofit conversations and paying projects.
Step 01
60
days of outbound to Canadian nonprofits
Step 02
39
meeting-ready leads
Result
$10K
projects closed, several times over
39 meeting-ready leads in 60 days → Canadian nonprofits and associations asking to talk.
Several $10K projects closed → website work won directly from the campaigns.
A €1.6B nonprofit in conversation → the largest organisation the outreach connected with.
Why It Worked
The cause came first. Naming the mission before the service turned a sales email into a relevant introduction.
Nothing to sell in the first email. Asking for a conversation, not a quote, matched how nonprofits buy.
Counter-cyclical timing. Summer inboxes are quiet; being one of the few agencies still writing paid off.
Ready To Own Your Pipeline?
If your buyers hate being sold to, this is where we start. We write to each organisation about its own work, ask for a conversation instead of a quote, and keep sending when everyone else pauses.
Book an outbound strategy call and we’ll map what an owned outbound channel would look like for you.
